The trailer shows us what fans of the anime will recognize as a key point that sets up a plot that we can hope to see in the movie. Many fans of anime will know that live action adaptions don’t usually end up very good (Dragon Ball Evolution), especially when the source materials covers tens of hours of story. Maybe this movie can change that.
For people who have been living under a rock, Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga, written by Hiromu Arakawa, that ended up turning into two different animes. Both animes follow two brothers who try to bring back their recently deceased mother, but of course things don’t go according to plan and they pay a hefty price. It seems as though the movie will be taking more pages off of the manga than anything else.
