‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 3 Will be ‘Even Crazier’

Legends of Tomorrow’s time travelling heroes saved reality from the Legion of Doom in its season two finale. However, it came at a very steep price when a time storm was caused by the team interacting with its past selves.

In the last scene of the episode, the Waverider crashed in a 2017 Los Angeles featuring dinosaurs and buildings that were clearly in the wrong time.

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly what was in store for season three on its SiriusXM radio show Superhero Insider.

“Our metaphor in the writers’ room is that we’re approaching time as a jigsaw puzzle,” said Guggenheim. “What the Legends did in the finale was take the jigsaw puzzle box and shake it up. The fact that we broke time, part of that was a desire on our part to go even crazier in season 3. By breaking time, we created a lot more opportunities for zaniness.”

The Legends infiltrated the White House in the 80s to stop Damien Darhk.

For fans of all The CW’s Arrowverse superhero shows, the Legends’ time storm will be confined to their show.

“There will be an explanation in season 3 about why you’re not seeing dinosaurs running through Central City,” said Guggenheim. “We’d rather keep the shows separate in that regard.”

The other big reveal in the season finale was the exit of Arthur Darvill’s Rip Hunter. After a season that included an evil turn and his being replaced as captain by Sara, Rip left the Waverider to regroup.

“We’ve got plans for Rip for next year,” said Guggenheim. “It’s just in a different capacity than him being a member of the team.”

Guggenheim previously hinted that a new hero will be joining the Legends in season three. He said it’s an established DC character, but that’s the only clue he gave.
