Award-winning actress Janet McTeer Joins Marvel’s Jessica Jones

Marvel’s Jessica Jones started camera production this week, and there are now reports that award-winning actress Janet McTeer will join the cast for Jessica Jones Season 2.

McTeer, whose received Academy Award nominations for “Tumbleweed” and “Albert Nobbs”, is also known for her more recent roles, notably “The Woman in Black”, “The White Queen”, “Maleficent” and “Battle Creek”.

McTeer’s role in Jessica Jones is still not announced, but Joel Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, has stated that her role will be pivotal not just for Jessica, but for the show overall.

We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast. Our second season of ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.”

Additionally, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg shares her excitement in what McTeer will bring to the second season.

“We couldn’t possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season. Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we’re trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, gives her characters extraordinary dimension and depth. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her.”

Jessica Jones has started production and will premiere on Netflix in 2018.
