Gemma Chan (AMC’s HumansI) has joined the cast of Crazy Rich Asians. Directed by Jon. M. Chu and produced by Warner Bros. The book-to-film adaptation will star Constance Wu as Rachel, who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend Nick, played by Henry Golding, and discovers that he is insanely rich. Michelle Yeoh has been cast as Nick’s mother.
No word on who Chan will be playing, there are many women Rachel interacts with. This is fans of Chan. She has had success on TV, but this could be the big break she desrves. She has a small part in the upcoming Transformers film and had a small cameo in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
“The studio [Warner Bros] acquired the movie rights to “Crazy Rich Asians” in October and is fast-tracking the project with plans for an exclusively-Asian cast. The story unfolds in a world of opulence, as new money and old money collide among a group of Chinese families living in Singapore. It follows a Chinese-American economics professor and her boyfriend — the heir to a massive fortune.”
Crazy Rich Asians is still in pre-production. Expect more casting news to hit in the coming days.
