Paramount Pictures has bought movie rights to The Pro, a graphic novel by Amanda Conner, Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti. The film will be produced by Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts and written by Zoe McCarthy.

The writers and illustrators of The Pro are no strangers to Hollywood. Painkiller Jane, another of Palmiotti’s graphic novels, is soon to be a film produced by and starring Jessica Chastain. Ennis is one of the creators and producers of the AMC tv series Preacher.

The Pro, from Image Comics and Paper Films, was published in 2002. It might appeal to those who like superhero stories that defy the genre’s trope. According to Deadline, The Pro revolves around a woman who works as a prostitute but wakes up with super powers one day and is asked to join the League of Honor.
