‘Dark Tower’ Release Date Pushed Back

Fans of the long-awaited The Dark Tower film adaptation will have to wait a little longer. The movie’s release date has been changed a week from July to August.

This isn’t the first delay for the movie, which was originally scheduled for February but got shifted to Summer so the visual effects could be finished.

This time Sony is switching things up so The Emoji Movie can have a more family friendly Summer run. Seriously, who doesn’t want to see Patrick Stewart as the voice of poop?

The Dark Tower is based on the Stephen King fantasy novels about a young boy who ends up in another dimension and becomes involved in the battle for Mid-World.

Sony also has a prequel series in the works. It will be based on the fourth book Wizard and Glass, run 10 to 13 episodes and also star Idris Elba.

Starring Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Fran Kranz and Jackie Earle Haley, The Dark Tower opens August 4.
