Following the premiere of the latest Justice League trailer, fans were left with several questions. First on the list: where’s Superman?

Director Zack Snyder knows there is a lot of mystery around the man of steel’s appearance in the film. He commented on his place in the DC Extended Universe in an interview with USA Today.
“It was always a super-intriguing concept to me to have this opportunity to have him make that sacrifice but also have him be this, in a weird sort of way, the why of Justice League,” said Snyder. What do you do now with him? What does the team think? What does the world need? All that comes into play. It’s fun for us but it’ll be interesting for audiences what we do with him.”
So, basically Superman was always going to die. However, in the comic book world death is never permanent, so obviously the character will be back.
Henry Cavill is part of the Justice League cast, but how much is he in the movie? Is this a Mark Hamil in The Force Awakens situation? Or is it an even worse answer and he comes back mind-controlled by Darkseid, with the team combining to save their friend.
Frankly, it doesn’t seem like fans will really know the answer until the film comes out.
Starring Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Justice League hits in theaters Nov. 17.
