Katie Cassidy is Back for Season 6 of ‘Arrow’
Katie Cassidy is returning to Arrow as a series regular in season six. She will be back as Laurel Lance, but not Black Canary. Cassidy will play Laurel’s Earth-2 doppelgänger, the evil Black Siren.
She appeared as the villainous metahuman in an early season five Arrow episode, at the end of which she was shipped to an ARGUS prison. Black Siren will show up in the final two episodes of season five, presumably to set up her return.
The Earth-1 Laurel was killed by Damien Darhk at the end of Arrow’s fourth season. Cassidy was then given a contract to star across all of The CW’s DCTV series. She debuted as Black Siren in season two of The Flash and is set to appear in the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow.
“This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgänger, Black Siren,” explained executive producer Marc Guggenheim in a statement. “We were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow this season show, she never really left the family.”
Black Siren’s return will no doubt cause plenty of drama for ex-boyfriend Oliver, his on again/off again girlfriend Felicity, new Black Canary Dinah, original Laurel’s father Quentin and sister Sara.
Legends of Tomorrow airs Tuesday at 9 pm. Arrow airs Wednesday at 8 pm on The CW.
