‘Power Rangers’ Mighty Morph Into $40.5M Box Office Hit
After going head to head with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast this weekend, Power Rangers still managed to come out well. With a budget of $105M, the movie debuted this weekend with an admirable $40.5M in the US with an additional $18M overseas. Saban’s reboot took a darker, more realistic take on the film which proved to fair well with its targeted audience as well as the nostalgia-seeking fans from the 90’s. The studio is set to make a nice profit and the 6 planned sequels don’t seem as far-fetched now.
The franchise definitely has a lot of source material to work with; There was mentioning of the Zeo Crystal that many fans will recognized from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. It’s also pretty clear what direction the film will go in for the sequel thanks to the post-credit scene.
The film stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, Becky G., Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston and Bill Hader as the Power Rangers, Zordon & Alpha 5 and is out now! Check out our review here!
