Six Film Franchise Planned for ‘Power Rangers’
One day has passed since the theatrical release of Saban’s Power Rangers, and reviews are slowly beginning to pile up on the web (check ours out here).
It’s pretty common in today’s film industry to see properties such as this get a live-action adaptation. And if they’re lucky enough to get enough commercial and critical support, they usually move forward with the property, and create a film franchise. It looks like Power Rangers is no exception to that.
While speaking to Variety about various things revolving the new Power Rangers’ origin story, Haim Saban made this statement about the onscreen future of this famed property:
“We already have a six-movie story arc… If this film is as successful as I hope, on March 24, on March 25 we’ll have the first story meeting for Movie No. 2.”
It’s almost certain that this film will be well-received, so I think a sequel was inevitable. There’s over 20 shows revolving around different Power Rangers, so there’s plenty of directions that they could go with future films. We just hope they’re able to introduce something amazing each time, because 6 films is pretty ambitious.
