‘Deadpool 2’ Screenwriter Talks ‘X-Force’ Connection
For a film that hasn’t started production or even announced a release date, Deadpool 2 sure has generated a lot of news lately.
First Zazie Beetz was cast as Domino, second there are rumors that Cable’s casting will be announced soon and now screenwriters are hinting at a possible X-Force connection. This isn’t too hard to believe since original members Domino and Cable are in the movie.
In an interview with CinemaBlend. screenwriter Rhett Reese discussed the possible Deadpool/X-Force connection.
“We’re trying not to think too much about X-Force, because…it’s a trap in these movies to use the current movie to set up the next movie, as opposed to making the current movie,” said Reese. “I know that I buck against it. So we are keeping in mind that there will be a next movie. We’re trying to set up the characters that will be in that next movie. But that’s not our first goal.”
“Our first goal is to tell a Deadpool story in an emotional, fun, satisfying way,” said Reese. “And then the fact that we’re setting up something in the future — it’s happening, but you’re not gonna see that mustache-twirling villain, who is going ‘Hahaha, it’s all coming into place.’ You’re just not going to see that, because that’s not our game.”
So it sounds like they are trying to strike a balance between making another great Deadpool movie, while also giving fans something exciting to look forward to.
Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, along with Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder and Zazie Beetz as Domino in Deadpool 2.
