Marvel Studios’ film based on the superhero known as Black Panther will be released February 16, 2018 — less than 11 months from now. However, Disney has decided to give Black Panther fans something to look forward to even sooner.
It was announced this week that Disney-Hyperion book editor Emily Meehan has made a deal for world rights to a middle grade novel about Black Panther. It will center on his childhood, and it will take place both in Chicago, Illinois, and in Wakanda, the hero’s fictional home nation.
The book will be edited by Hannah Allaman and Tomas Palacios of Marvel Press, and it is written by award-winning author Ronald L. Smith. It will be released in January 2018.
