The Fast and Furious franchise veteran Justin Lin will direct Netflix’s newest original movie.
The Stand Off is a period story of the Los Angeles Police Department’s new SWAT unit’s December 1969 raid on the Black Panther Party. The film is told from both sides.
Lin, who most recently directed Star Trek Beyond, will also produce from a script by Mark Heyman (Black Swan).
Lin is also executive producing and directing the pilot of CBS’ SWAT reboot starring Shemar Moore.
Piggybacking off the success of its original series, Netflix has recently begun beefing up its original films.
Upcoming releases include Tilda Swinton in Okja, Nicholas Hoult in Sand Castle, Brad Pitt in War Machine and Will Smith in Bright.
