“Godzilla vs. Kong” Writers’ Room Revealed
Kong: Skull Island is going strong at the box office in its first weekend. Now, we’ve gained new information about one of its planned sequels, 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the group will work out the story beats together, and one writer will be chosen to write the script.
The room, along with the monster franchise overall, will be led by Terry Rossio, who is known for the Pirates of the Caribbean films. The group also includes Patrick McKay and J.D Payne (co-writers of Star Trek Beyond), Lindsey Beer, Cat Vasko, T.S. Nowlin, Jack Paglen, and J. Michael Stracynzki.

The writers’ room approach has been used by other studios in recent years, including Paramount for the Transformers films, and Universal for its group of monster movies (Between those and the Godzilla/Kong films, monster movie fans are set for the next decade).
