Fantastic Beasts Franchise to Explore “Complex Relationship” between Lestrange & Scamander

With the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Potter fans everywhere proved to Warner Bros. that movies surrounding the magical universe were still both enjoyable as well as bankable: Since its premiere last November, the movie has grossed $812 million worldwide, and that number is still currently climbing.

2018 date is already set for the sequel and just like its predecessor, the script will be penned by none other than Harry Potter mastermind herself, J.K. Rowling. A major part of the plot for the film will be focused on the tumultuous relationship between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. However, fans will also get to see the start of the “complex relationship” that happens between Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander and Zoë Kravitz’s Leta Lestrange.

In a recent interview with Collider, Kravitz even alluded that her character would be making appearances in not just the sequel, but in all the films to follow as well:

“I think there’s a few ahead. The relationship between Leta and Newt Scamander is a complex relationship, so I think there will be a lot of time for that to grow and develop, which will be fun.”

The current release date for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is November 16th, 2018. Are you guys looking forward to learning more about Leta Lestrange in the upcoming sequels? Let us know how you feel in the comments and if you plan on following the series through.

  1. I remember wondering what happened between them during the first movie, so I’m happy they are making it a big part of the next movie 🙂
