‘Big Hero 6 The Series’ Given A Second Season Before Premiere

Based on Walt Disney Animation StudiosAcademy Award-winning featured film from the Marvel comics, Big Hero 6 was to become a television series on Disney XD and was also slated to premiere in fall of 2017.  The show will be under the producing direction of Emmy-Award Winners Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi. Similar to the movie, the show retains most of its major cast and characters with Ryan Potter as Hiro, Jamie Chung as Go Go, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon, Khary Payton as Wasabi, Scott Adsit as Baymax, Alan Tudyk as Alister Kiel, Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, and Stan Lee as Fred’s father.  New cast for the show will0 include Brooks Wheelan as Fred and David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff.

Today, the show was given an early second season renewal.  Disney XD senior vice president, Programming and general manager Marc Buhaj has stated,

Mark, Bob and Nick have delivered a dynamic adventure series that follows the Big Hero 6 superhero team, led by audience favorites Hiro and Baymax. We are honored to have the opportunity to further expand the elaborate world and engaging characters of ‘Big Hero 6 The Series’ with this early second season order.

It is believed the series will pick up right where the movie has left off and continue following the friendship between Hiro and Baymax, along with their friends Go Go, Honey Lemon, Wasabi, and Fred.  Since the movie, the six of them come together to form a superhero team to keep San Fransokyo safe from a variety of scientifically enhanced villains.  And if that wasn’t enough for young Hiro, he will have to ace the academic and social challenges of becoming San Fransokyo Institute of Technology’s newest prodigy.
