Coby Bell Joins Cast For X-Men TV Pilot
It has officially been announced that actor Coby Bell has been added to the cast of the untitled X-Men TV series pilot which is being produced by Twentieth Century Fox in collaboration with Marvel Television. Fans may recognize Bell, who played NFL player Jason Pitts on the hit sitcom The Game. He also played Jesse Porter on the USA network’s crime drama Burn Notice. Bell will join an already expanding cast that includes Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Amy Acker (Person of Interest, Angel), Jamie Chung (Big Hero 6, Sucker Punch), Sean Teale (Incorporated, Reign) and many more.
Coby Bell is confirmed to be playing a character named Jace Hunter. Read his character description below”
“JACE HUNTER – A weathered man who quietly wrestles with the moral ambiguities of a job that regularly requires cold-blooded, calculating efficiency on a day-to-day basis.”
The description itself is pretty vague. It describes his character but gives no clues as to whether his character will be on the side of good or evil.
The currently untitled X-Men pilot is being written by Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and will be dircted by X-Men franchise alum Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects). The story will center around two ordinary parents, played by Moyer and Acker, who discover that their children are mutants. They are forced to go on the run from the government and end up joining an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. It is unknown whether this series will be connected to Fox’s larger mutant universe or if it will be connected to Fox’s TV universe which includes the critically acclaimed show Legion.
The cast for this pilot just keeps growing and each addition is turning out to be pretty solid thus far. Coby Bell has proven time and again that he can deliver on whatever character he plays, whether it’s comedic or serious. But for now let’s just wait to see just how this particular character will fit into the story. What do you think of this casting GOC fam? Is Coby Bell a welcomed addition to the X-Men TV universe?
