Disney Drops Early ‘Indy 5’ News
When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, lost in all the Star Wars excitement was the fact that they also acquired Indiana Jones.
It’s been long rumored that Indiana Jones 5 was in the works, but today Disney confirmed it with a few early announcements.
The film is scheduled for release July 19, 2019. Harrison Ford will return as the iconic hero and Steven Spielberg will once again direct.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” enthused Alan Horn, Chairman of Walt Disney Studios.
As of now it seems as though George Lucas will not be involved. The new film is being written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).
When last we saw Indy in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, he fought off Russians, aliens and Shia LaBeouf’s attempt to ruin the franchise. The film ended with him marrying longtime love Marion Ravenwood, though there is no word yet on if Karen Allen will return for another adventure.
Also not returning, thankfully, is Shia LaBeouf.
