‘Deadpool 2’ Adds ‘Stranger Things’ David Harbour To The List As A Potential Cable

The minds over at Deadpool 2 have been throwing a lot of names to fans of who will be playing Cable for the much-anticipated Deadpool sequel. Today, another name has been added to the mix to play the leader of the X-Force:

Stranger Things’ David Harbour.

Harbour, who plays Sheriff Jim Hopper in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, is reported to be in talks to play the X-Men character and is a frontrunner in the playing the X-Men mutant. 

According to Collider and The Wrap, director David Leitch and star/producer Ryan Reynolds are leaning towards the Netflix star, and has already been screen-tested by Fox. This report comes after lingerings in social media of Pierce Brosnan and Michael Shannon in talks of playing the popular X-Men character. Film fans have yet to be introduced to Cable, but comic fans know him as Nathan Summers, the son of Scott Summers aka Cyclops. Cable is known to be one of the most popular characters in the X-Men comic universe, so his introduction the X-Men film franchise and a great addition to X-Men films.

Casting Cable is essential not just for Deadpool 2. Fox has also approached screenwriter Joe Carnahan to start a screenplay for a future X-Force movie, which will introduce movie fans to Cable and the rest of X-Force in detail.

Deadpool 2 is set to start production in later 2017, with a release date yet to be announced.
