The anticipation for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming films has everyone holding their breath. The MCU’s popularity has all of its known actors being constantly bombarded with questions about the future of the franchise, with the hope of getting exclusive trade secrets or just some updates for highly anxious fans across the globe. Cue Captain Marvel, which will serve as the MCU’s very first solo film with a female character leading the film by herself. Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson has been chosen to play Captain Marvel, but not much news about the film has been released to the public.

The film has a release date of March 8th, 2019, and a screenplay is being written by Guardians Of The Galaxy scribe Nicole Perlman and Inside Out writer Meg LeFauve. There is still no director attached. With the debut still a few years away, it goes without saying that the groundwork is still being laid to make sure this film lives up to the hype. But that doesn’t mean that the studio and the actress don’t already have an idea of the significance the character will play in the overall MCU. While speaking with Yahoo, Larson gave a few tidbits of how Carol Danvers will impact the MCU.

“Well, quite simply, she’s kind of like the bridge between two worlds. She’s the bridge between what’s happening in space and what’s happening on Earth.”

If you are unfamiliar with what she is referencing, let’s catch you up. The MCU has this underlying theme of “It’s all Connected,” meaning that every film is connected to the other in some kind of way. Kind of like a puzzle piece. As of now, the Avengers on Earth and the Guardians Of The Galaxy have no connection to each other, but based on new information, we know that they will be teaming up in Marvel’s highly anticipated film Infinity War. We are all excited to see every Avenger face the mad Titan himself, Thanos. Captain Marvel could very well be the key to connecting our Earth bound and Cosmic Avengers into a much needed alliance to save the universe because I’m pretty sure none of us want to be enslaved by a guy with Purple skin who’s in love with a woman named “Death”.  Pretty creepy.

Larson also gave us an idea of Carol Danvers as a character and what her journey in the film could like:

 “She’s coming to terms with these different parts of herself. There’s a lot of humanity in her, and she is such a strong believer in truth and in peace. I think that’s an incredible symbol to have right now.”

The Avengers roster has been steadily expanding but besides the presence of Scarlett Johansson as the elite assassin Black Widow, the team has been void of any strong female heroes. Evangline Lily will be portraying The Wasp in the Phase Three film Ant-Man and The Wasp, so we have another female hero to look forward to seeing on the big screen. We can’t wait to see Captain Marvel kick some butt. We are also anxious to see how her comic book origins will be adapted in Marvel and Disney’s modern take on such an iconic superhero universe.
