David F. Sandberg In Talks To Direct ‘Shazam!’
Out of every film that Warner Bros. has announced to be apart of their DCEU, Shazam! seems to be the only one that’s missing a few key components: a titular star, and a director. We all know that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had been cast as Black Adam a long time ago, but he won’t exactly be able to appear in the film if there’s no director to shoot the film. Luckily for him, WB may have finally found a guy to helm the project.
According to a recent exclusive from The Wrap, it appears that Lights Out director David F. Sandberg may be Warner Bros.’ choice to take on Shazam! on the big screen.
Now Sandberg is probably not anyone’s first choice to direct Shazam!, and he’s certainly not a household name, but he’s proven that he can direct a decent enough film, even though he seems to excel in the horror genre. But think about it this way: James Wan is another director who’s big on directing horror films, (Saw, The Conjuring, Insidious), but he’s helming 2018’s Aquaman. Maybe Warner Bros. sees something in these specific types of directors that the rest of us don’t. Who knows?
We want to know what you guys think about this though. Do you think Sandberg is the right guy, or do you have another director in mind? Sound off in the comment section below.
