X-Men: Sophie Turner Confirms New Movie Starts Filming Soon
The X-Men films have been a controversial topic for the past few years (mostly because of their impossible-to-follow timeline), and the events that took place in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse definitely didn’t help ease things, as many of us hoped it would.
Nevertheless, another X-Men film is on the horizon, and if recent rumors are true, it will be loosely based on the Dark Phoenix Saga…again.
Nothing is confirmed, but they definitely gave us a glimpse of Jean unleashing a bit of the Phoenix to defeat Apocalypse. We’re all itching to see where Fox goes with Jean’s character arc, so just how much longer do we have to wait until the next film is out? Sadly, we don’t have a release date, but Jean Grey herself has let us know that the next installment begins filming soon.
While speaking with Hey U Guys on the red carpet at the 70th British Academy Film Awards last night, Sophie Turner broke down her schedule for 2017, and that included a comment about Game of Thrones, and the new X-Men:
“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men. We’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”
“About to start” doesn’t really seem like much of an announcement, but when you think about the fact that it was rumored that the next film would begin shooting in May, it kind of adds up. We just hope it holds true.
X-Men: Apocalypse could be considered a divisive film, and it’s unfortunate that it was so poorly received by fans and critics alike. We will remain hopeful that Twentieth Century Fox gets it right with the next one though, especially if they plan to revisit The Dark Phoenix Saga.

The untitled X-Men film has yet to receive an official release date.
