‘Your Name’ Debuts in North American Theaters in April 2017

Last year, Makoto Shinkai gave us a rare and phenomenal animated Japanese film that had a creative take on body-swapping titled Your Name, and it was a big hit overseas. Sadly for anime lovers in North America, the film wasn’t released in theaters here (except for an extremely limited showing at a Los Angeles film event in December). Fortunately though, it looks like we’ll all get our chance to see the film in theaters in a couple of months.

Funimation has reported that their theatrical division, Funimation Films will be responsible for bringing Your Name to North American theaters on April 7th, 2017. And here’s the cool part: you get to chose whether you want to watch it with the English dub, or in Japanese with English Subtitles.

This anime film has received a lot of praise by critics, and rightfully so. It came in as the fourth highest grossing film of all time, behind Spirited Away, Titanic, and Frozen. That’s not what anyone would call an easy feat. We’re grateful that Funimation is opening this Japanese blockbuster in North American theaters, and we’re sure that moviegoers will be grateful to experience the film in premium quality.
