Tom Hiddleston Teases Doctor Strange’s Role In Thor: Ragnarok

By: Dorian Parks

The addition of Doctor Strange added a completely new and unique world we’ve never seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We can expect to see the Doctor in the next wave of Marvel movies – including his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.

The good news is, we wont have to wait until Infinity War to see Cumberbatch reprise his role as Doctor Strange. A surprise mid-credits scene in Doctor Strange revealed a conversation between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in which Strange uses his powers to refill his mug with beer (wish I had that power.) The scene strongly hints at Doctor Strange’s appearance in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. An official synopsis for the upcoming third Thor installment confirmed everything but Doctor Strange’s involvement too.

Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the Thor movies and the first Avengers, was on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globes, where he won the award for best actor in a miniseries for The Night Manager. He stopped to speak with MTV News, which posted the interview on its official Twitter account. During the interview Hiddleston confirms Doctor Strange’s expected involvement in Thor: Ragnarok, while also talking about his role in the upcoming movie.

Here’s how Hiddleston described Doctor Strange’s role in Ragnarok:

“Let’s put it this way: Doctor Strange has very intensely cerebral time-bending powers. … At the end of Thor: The Dark World, Loki is on the throne. What happened to Odin? … Maybe Doctor Strange has to help out with that particular conundrum.”

So it sounds like Ragnarok picks up where The Dark World left off, with  Doctor Strange joining the action and Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) also playing a key role in the story.

We still don’t know how significant of a role Doctor Strange will play in Thor: Ragnarok. But, Hiddleston’s description definitely sounds like the Stephen Strange will be crucial to helping Thor find out exactly what happened to Odin at the end of The Dark World. It seems like Doctor Strange will be an indispensable character in the MCU moving forward, I mean he can be anywhere within seconds so it makes sense!

How do you think Doctor Strange’s character will help Thor? Let us know!
