Black Lightning Won’t Be Crossing Over With Arrowverse
By Okon Essien
Every show that resides within the realm of the Arrowverse on The CW has had a very successful run since their Fall 2016 seasons began. That includes Supergirl, ever since it switched over from CBS. One reason these shows are doing so well is due to their shared universe, which means they can all crossover from time to time and exist within one another’s show. While this strategy has clearly worked out, it looks like Greg Berlanti – the man who’s producing all of these shows – has chosen to keep one of his newest projects outside of the Arrowverse.
Berlanti was recently asked (hat tip to CBR) whether or not Black Lightning, the superhero series he’s currently helping FOX develop, will eventually partake in the crossover festivities that we’ve seen on The CW so far. To that, he gave this answer:
“I don’t think so. If we’re lucky enough that that exists, that that show exists, I don’t think those worlds will cross over.”
So it seems as though Berlanti just wants to make sure that the series even gets fully developed before he even thinks about crossovers. It makes sense, but of course some people will be disappointed that Black Lightning won’t get to meet The Flash and Green Arrow. In the end we’re sure things will work out with this show. Let’s look forward to more Black Lightning news in the future.
No official release date for Black Lightning just yet.
