James Gunn Wants Marvel To Make A ‘Moon Knight’ Movie And Has An Idea For It.

Writer/director James Gunn, the man responsible for “Guardians of the Galaxy” and its upcoming sequel, has had the opportunity to introduce us the cosmic corners of the Marvel Universe. Even though Gunn has spent all of his time in the MCU exploring the cosmos, he still has ideas that take place outside the normal setting of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. As James Gunn recently revealed on Twitter, he knows what he would do with a street-level corner of the MCU.
When asked if he ever considered adding the vigilante Moon Knight to the cosmic Guardians team, James Gunn expressed his excitement for the character.
He also added that a gritty, human superhero like Moon Knight doesn’t really fit in with the aliens featured on Star-Lord’s team. But just because there’s zero chance of an Earth hero like Moon Knight joining the team beyond the stars, doesn’t mean Gunn hasn’t put some thought into how he’d handle the hero’s big screen debut. Gunn has given that some thought — and he’s even talked to Marvel about it.
Because of his roots on the streets of Marvel’s Manhattan, many people see Moon Knight as a potential character to be included in Marvel’s growing Netflix series, standing alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Punisher.
In the meantime, though, James Gunn has “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” to finish up. Would you like see see James Gunn handle Moon Knight or would you want a fresh new face to be over the project? Let us know!
Opening May 5, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Elizabeth Debicki and Chris Sullivan.
