By: Taylor Bauldwin

Over this Christmas break I had the pleasure of catching up with Toronto artist Jyothee Murali, commonly known on these art streets as JYXDI.

Jyothee is Sri Lankan and has been cultivating her passion for painting since the age of 10. On top of filling custom orders from customers around the world, she also is an art instructor at Pinot’s Palette. Jyothee’s painting cover numerous different subjects from portraits, landscapes, realism and also some anime pieces that seem to be a fan favorite. I asked her if she had a favorite anime and she told me Naruto (good choice).

I asked Jyothee for any fun facts and she shared with me that she is left handed which I especially appreciated as a fellow lefty. She also shared with me that she dropped out of college to pursue her dream of being a creative full time; “people say art isn’t a good choice to have as a career, but I accept the challenge” Jyothee told me.

Jyothee boast over 53 thousand followers on just her Instagram (@jyxdi) alone and has plans to open a clothing line in the spring of 2017 and with customers from all over the world I would have to agree and say that she is more than up to the challenge.
