Michael Fassbender Unsure Of His Future in X-Men Franchise
By Okon Essien
If you ask anyone to explain to you what’s going on in the X-Men film universe, we don’t doubt it’d be a bit hard for them. Their timeline is a big convoluted mess, and we don’t really know how they plan to go forward with the next films in terms of story, or in terms of characters. What’s worse, it seems one quintessential actor is unsure of his future in the franchise as well.
Michael Fassbender, the man who has portrayed the younger version of Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto in the last three X-Men movies hasn’t the slightest clue of his future in the franchise. In a recent interview with The Empire Film Podcast about his new film Assassin’s Creed, Fassbender shared his thoughts when asked whether he would be returning to the role as Magneto, or if those days were over for him:
“I don’t know to be honest. I haven’t made any sort of decision on it because I have no idea what’s happening next with the franchise to be honest.”
Yeah, nobody knows, Fassbender. Not even Fox. We all want the X-Men franchise to be successful, but it looks like they’ll need to figure themselves out, and figure out how to move forward with their characters first. We’ll just have to wait and see if Fassbender will ever return as the master of magnetism.
No release date for the next X-Men film, but as soon as we know, you’ll know.
