Earlier this year, it was announced that Batwoman would make her live-action debut in December during the CW’s annual DC series crossover event. The network is teaming up once again with Greg Berlanti to develop an entire series based on the DC Comics character.

The series will focus on Kate Kane, who is a highly-trained fighter, as well as an out lesbian. She has a passion for social justice and will fight Gotham’s criminals as Batwoman.

Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries, Smallville) is working on the script as well as executive producing. Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns will also executive produce. As of right now, there is nobody attached to play the read role, but a casting notice is expected to go out in the near future.

Batwoman would be joining multiple other CW series which include Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning. DC’s upcoming subscription service DC Universe will also have new original series such as Titans and Doom Patrol.
