Principal photography for Avatar 2 is set to start filming this coming Monday, September 25th. The filming date was confirmed by Borys Kit, a reporter for The Hollywood Reporter, who attended a special Terminator event on Tuesday where the film was discussed. This news comes after James Cameron himself confirming last month that production on the four Avatar sequels was now fully underway. The company responsible for the film’s special effects will be Weta Digital which is Peter Jackson’s company that was responsible for the work done on The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The franchise currently has three other planned sequels with expected premiere dates running all the way up to 2025.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, Matt Gerland, and C. C. H. Pounder all are returning for the upcoming sequels and newcomers Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin will be joining the cast as well. A full plot synopsis has yet to be revealed but a further divergence into the history of the planet Pandora is definitely something we can expect.  The films will all be able to stand on their own while still connecting to each other to form the saga.
